Abandoned Pet Rescue

Abandoned Pet Rescue (APR) is a 501(c)(3) IRS tax-exempt, qualified charitable organization that rescues and shelters abandoned, abused and neglected pets, and finds them new homes. We have been serving the South Florida community since 1996. Our no-kill animal shelter is located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where volunteers perform the duties of running the shelter and our operations on a day-to-day basis. APR also helps reduce pet over-population by conducting sweeps of neighborhoods and spaying and neutering feral cats with the use of a mobile veterinary facility. In connection with that service, we also educate the public on the programs of pet over-population through the PET-A-KID program - kids and pets working together to make a difference. APR relies primarily on the generosity of the local community - via donations, pet adoption fees and grants to keep our operations running. Our shelter houses more pets at any one time (300 pets!) than any other shelter in Broward County and we never get rid of a pet because there is no room or because we do not feel that it is adoptable.
