In the autumn of 2000, a handful of individuals, each of their own accord, came to the Irish Heritage Center in Avon Lake, Ohio to begin taking bagpipe lessons. Whether it was their fondness for the sound of this ancient instrument, the challenge to learn them, or both, these people had taken it upon themselves to master the bagpipes. One year later, this handful of bagpipe students has evolved into the IH (Irish Heritage) Pipe Band of Ohio. This unique band of musicians is comprised of seasoned vets with an impressive amount of piping experience as well as novices eager to learn with an array of tunes already under their belt. The drummers of the IH Pipe Band also possess these same attributes. Whether it's the moving beat of the bass drum, the rhythm of the snares, or the cadence of the tenor drums, you can be sure these percussionists are always at the top of their game. What sets the IH Pipe Band apart from the other pipe bands is our relationship with the Masterson School of Irish Dance. These fine students in the art of Irish Dance have proven to be a well-suited partner with the band. Whether it's the grace of a jig or the rapidity of hard shoe taps, these skilled dancers are more than capable of answering the call. It is these varied elements of talent that serve as the band's foundation and its constant strive for excellence.
